But, one of the things we’re particularly proud of is our ability to find the most beautiful, off-the-beaten-track locations. For those who have already seen the big sights of Italy – from Florence’s Uffizi Gallery to Pisa’s Leaning Tower – let us tempt you with a trip to Umbria, the green heart of the country. It’s the only region that isn’t bordered by the coast or another country, landlocked in the middle of Italy’s famous boot. And, we think that makes it an even more authentic representation of this wonderful culture.
Umbria boasts all the benefits of its next-door neighbour Tuscany, from rolling, lush green hills and plenty of vineyards to incredible food and charismatic towns brimming with history. The one thing it doesn’t have? Crowds. Umbria is still a relatively well-kept secret and our group holidays focus on giving you a true experience with rural, farmhouse accommodation, local hosts, and a native private chef, who can whip up fresh meals for you every night.
Our Taster Weeks offer you the chance to try out a selection of the activities we provide. For those who haven’t joined a Flavours holiday before it’s the perfect introduction, blending travel, history, food, and wellness. Our Taster Week in Umbria is one of our favourites and includes cooking lessons with your in-house chef where you’ll learn to make authentic Italian dishes to bring home and share with family and friends, as well as yoga sessions that help you to reconnect to your body and mind.
We’ll head off for day trips to historic villages with our cameras, while our photography tutor helps you to capture the scene in your own way. There’ll also be aperitivo each night and a meal out too, to see how the locals eat.
As for your location, we think you’ll love Villa Tesoro, a converted farmhouse with gorgeous original features like stone walls and wooden ceiling beams. Villa Tesoro sits in the heart of a family-run farm with spanning views out over the hills, as well as an outdoor pool and spa. It’s an idyllic place to switch off from daily life.

Taster Holiday in Umbria - Itinerary
Day 1 -
Benvenuti! Welcome to Umbria! You will arrive at the villa where you can settle in, meet your chef and host and enjoy welcome drinks. Dinner this evening is at the villa, prepared by your chef.
Day 2 -
You will be starting the day with an energising yoga session before having breakfast and then you will join your chef in the kitchen for your first cooking lesson. The afternoon is free for you to relax before dinner in the villa.
Day 3 -
After breakfast, we will visit Orvieto, a remarkable town renowned for its stunning medieval architecture, rich history, and its dramatic position atop a flat volcanic plateau. Lunch will be at a local Trattoria. Return to the villa in the afternoon, where dinner will be prepared for you by your chef.
Day 4 -
After breakfast you will have an intro to photography with your tutor, Patrick. Whether using SLR or phone camera Patrick will establish your level and instruct you individually from there. We will have lunch at the villa and then in the afternoon we will venture out and about to put into practice your morning workshop. Dinner will be in the villa this evening.
Day 5 -
After breakfast, you will head out to Bolsena for a boat trip and a chance to practice your photography skills with your tutor, Patrick. Lunch is back at the villa. The afternoon is yours to relax and enjoy the villa. Dinner tonight is at the villa.
Day 6 -
After breakfast, you’ll enjoy another yoga session with your group, followed by lunch. In the afternoon, we will visit Pitigliano, Sorano, and Sovana, three charming towns known for their historical significance, stunning architecture, and unique landscapes. Dinner will be in one of our favourite family-owned restaurants in this area.
Day 7 -
This morning you’ll have your final photography lesson followed by lunch. Your afternoon is free to relax in the stunning grounds of the villa. In the evening, enjoy a a photography exhibition of the week and farewell dinner with your fellow guests.
Day 8 -
After breakfast, you’ll have some time to pack before our driver takes you on our group transfer back to Perugia Airport for your flight home. Arrivederci!

We have found the best flight options for you to book that will meet our complimentary transfer. Please see the details below to help with your travel plans:
- On the first day of your holiday (not September and October dates), your transfer driver will meet you in the arrivals hall of Perugia Santegidio airport at 10:30 am (Direct flights with Ryanair from London Stansted).
- On the first day of your holiday (September and October dates), your transfer driver will meet you in the arrivals hall of Perugia Santegidio airport at 11:15 am (Direct flights with Ryanair from London Stansted)
- On the final day of your holiday, you will be collected and dropped off at Perugia Santegidio airport by 8:15 am (Direct flights to London Stansted with Ryanair).
