Spotlight on our 6 time Flavours guest, Julie:
How One Flavours Holiday Became a Passport to Lifelong Friendships Across the World
When Julie, an adventurous traveller from America, signed up for her first Flavours Holiday, a cooking retreat in Amalfi, her goal was simple: to immerse herself in Italy’s rich culture and master authentic Italian recipes that would wow her friends and family back home. But what she discovered went far beyond the kitchen. That first holiday marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey filled with meaningful friendships, international reunions, and a deep connection to the Flavours experience that keeps bringing her back—across continents—time and time again.
Now, six Flavours adventures later, Julie isn’t just returning to Europe for the delectable cuisine or the stunning landscapes, she’s coming to reunite with the close-knit circle of friends she’s made along the way – friends from across England and beyond who now feel like family. So much so that Julie has even spent the festive season with some of them, welcoming them to stay with her for Thanksgiving back in Chagrin Falls, Ohio!
“A holiday like no other”
For Julie, Flavours Holidays offer a rare blend of exclusivity, community and ease. Each guest enjoys the privacy of their own en suite room while gathering at the villa’s heart to share meals, laughter, and lessons in local culture and cuisine. From the expert chefs to the attentive hosts, everything is designed to create an atmosphere that’s both welcoming and inspiring.
“The setup is second to none,” Julie shares. “It’s the perfect mix of personal comfort and shared connection. That’s why I’m willing to travel halfway across the world for it!”
Every Flavours trip combines hands-on learning with immersive cultural experiences. Whether it’s cooking classes, exploring picturesque towns, or simply enjoying downtime by the villa’s pool, guests leave with not just memories but various skills.
From fellow guests to lifelong friends
Julie’s Flavours experience is more than a series of holidays; it’s a journey of building meaningful connections. She fondly recalls the evenings spent around the villa’s table after a day of cooking or sightseeing, sharing stories with other guests from all walks of life.
“Flavours gave me the chance to connect with people I’d never have met otherwise,” she says. “Some of them have become the most important people in my life.”
Recently, Julie travelled to England to visit several Flavours friends, exploring local gems like the Roman Baths in Bath, and The Guernsey Channel Islands and reminiscing about their shared adventures. These reunions are a testament to the unique community Flavours fosters, turning fellow travellers into lifelong companions.
Italy, Spain, and Beyond
Julie’s Flavours story began in Italy, but her adventures have taken her to Spain and beyond. She vividly recalls her time in Andalucía, where she milked goats and learned the art of cheese-making, calling it “one of the most unique and unexpected experiences of my life!”
Next on her list is Sicily, this time bringing friends from home in the US to share in the magic. She’s also eyeing Flavours’ Moroccan retreat, eager to experience Flavours offering in an entirely new setting.
Why Flavours holidays are so special
For Julie, Flavours Holidays are more than just trips – they’re transformative experiences, they are a passport to lifelong friendships. They offer the rare opportunity to forge friendships while discovering beautiful destinations. In a world where making new friends can feel increasingly difficult, especially later in life, Flavours creates an environment where connections happen naturally.
Her advice to anyone considering a Flavours Holiday? “Take the plunge. You’ll not only explore incredible places but also find yourself part of a community that celebrates the joy of learning, laughter and friendship. It’s unlike anything else.”
So, if you’re dreaming of a getaway that blends cultural discovery with the chance to meet lifelong friends, pack your bags and get ready for a journey as unforgettable as Julie’s.
