Painting Holidays in Tuscany
Tuscany is world famous for hearty food, rich culture and stunning landscapes, making it the ideal location for a painting holiday. Take your time to scan the landscape for the perfect composition, capture the details of beautiful local villages, and visit historic cities like San Gimignano and Volterra and get lost in their ancient streets, taking the chance to sketch their beautiful buildings.
The venues for our painting holidays in Tuscany are surrounded by breathtaking countryside and provide wonderful inspiration for painters. Not only are the views stunning, the grounds of the villas are the perfect place to relax and get the creative juices flowing!
With a sketchbook, easels and boards provided, all of the big details are taken care of for you, and Flavours will provide you with a handy list of painting materials to bring with you for your trip.
The painting was brilliant, our great tutor gave me lots of tips to improve my skills. The landscapes were very inspiring. The food and wine were excellent. Flavours is great value for money because everything is included.
Villa Accommodation
Stunning views are essential for a painting holiday in Italy and that is why our villas are hand-picked to find the perfect location. We have carefully chosen areas of Tuscany famous for their breathtaking scenery to inspire our guests – what could be better than painting the olive groves, rolling hills and vineyards? When you are not painting, take some time to relax by the pool and wander the grounds of the estate. All bedrooms are ensuite and decorated in a contemporary style.

Painting in Tuscany - Itinerary
Day 1 (Saturday) - Group transfer to the villa.
Our Flavours transfer will meet you at Pisa Airport and take you to the villa for welcome drinks on the terrace followed by dinner.
Day 2 (Sunday) - Your first painting session: an introduction to watercolour techniques.
This morning you have your first sketching and painting session with your teacher. This will include discussing the course outline, aims and expectations and getting started. The session will be followed by lunch prepared by your chef. The afternoon is yours to continue sketching and painting, or to relax by the pool. Dinner is prepared for you at the villa.
Day 3 (Monday) - A day of painting followed by dinner at the villa.
This morning, your tutor will demonstrate landscape painting to the group after breakfast, looking at different ways to apply watercolour and mixing media like pastel and coloured pencil. Following lunch, there will be an outing to use the techniques. Dinner will be at the villa.
Day 4 (Tuesday) - A day trip to explore a beautiful local town.
After breakfast, we will travel to a beautiful local town to enjoy a day sight-seeing, sketching or shopping at your leisure. Lunch will be at our favourite local trattoria. Before dinner, the tutor will discuss your work so far.
Day 5 (Wednesday) - Today's painting session will involve a lesson in the elements of composition and colour.
After breakfast, there will be a lesson in the elements of composition and colour. Lunch will be served on the terrace. The afternoon is free to enjoy as you wish around the grounds of the villa or relaxing by the pool. Dinner will be at the villa tonight, prepared by your chef.
Day 6 (Thursday) - An afternoon visit to a local town, followed by dinner at an excellent local trattoria.
A chance today to try larger and more ambitious work using the sketches and ideas you have accumulated so far. Following lunch, there will be an afternoon visit to another local town with an opportunity to sketch. Enjoy dinner at an excellent local restaurant.
Day 7 (Friday) - Spend today relaxing by the pool or painting.
Today is your final day of drawing and painting, with time to finish off your works and relax at the villa. Later this evening, we’ll have an exhibition of your art work to the group, followed by a special farewell dinner prepared by your chef.
Day 8 (Saturday) - Breakfast before our transfer back to Pisa Airport.
After breakfast, our private transfer will take you back to Pisa Airport for your onward journey. Arrivederci!
