Painting Holidays in Sicily
Sicily is an island of contrasts -from fertile volcanic land, ancient and arid ruins to baroque style architecture, it offers beautiful compositions for painters. Its stunning location in the middle of the Mediterranean means it is blessed with good weather, ideal for painting outside, and our experienced painting tutors will always guide you to the best painting spots.
We have carefully designed our painting holidays in Italy as a complete artistic journey from start to finish. For our painting holidays in Sicily, we are based at authentic yet modern villas in the south-east of the island. With a sketchbook, easels and boards provided, all of the big details are taken care of for you, and Flavours will provide you with a handy list of painting materials to bring with you for your trip.
It was great being able to relax and enjoy painting in beautiful surroundings in a lovely climate with a very helpful and encouraging tutor.
Villa Accommodation
The villas where our painting holidays in Sicily take place are built in a typical Sicilian style. Chosen because of their locations, they have beautiful views of the surrounding areas. Within the grounds of the villas, there are beautiful outdoor facilities complete with swimming pools surrounded by almond and olive trees. After a dip, you can sit back and relax on the terrace. Sicily is an ideal place for a Mediterranean island holiday, and our villa is the perfect place to kick back and relax.

Painting in Sicily Itinerary
Day 1 (Sunday) - Group transfer from the airport to the villa.
Our Flavours transfer will meet you at Catania Airport and take you to the villa where you can settle in, meet your teacher, chef and host and enjoy welcome drinks. Dinner this evening is at the villa, prepared by your chef.
Day 2 (Monday) - A day of painting and sketching at the villa.
After breakfast, you’ll have your first lesson. With your tutor, you’ll explore the villa and its grounds with your sketch book, sketching the pomegranate and olive trees, the ancient walls of the villa and views from the roof terrace. After lunch, you will explore how to develop your sketches into more finished pieces, with a focus on composition and drawing. The rest of the afternoon is free for you to enjoy at the villa and the pool area before dinner.
Day 3 (Tuesday) - Day trip to Siracusa and Noto.
Today, you will visit the coastal town of Siracusa where you’ll have the opportunity to explore the historic old town looking for the perfect vista. After a morning sketching and painting, head to our favourite local trattoria in the old part of the city, Ortigia, for lunch. In the afternoon, travel to Noto to take in the stunning valley views for a lesson on landscape painting. Dinner tonight is prepared by your chef back at the villa.
Day 4 (Wednesday) - A day trip to Marzamemi for some sketching.
After breakfast, you’ll head out to Marzamemi, a local fishing village famous for catching tuna, for a day of sketching by the seaside. Lunch will be at our favourite local trattoria, with time after lunch to continue sketching and painting. Return to the villa late afternoon for aperitivi and dinner, prepared by your chef.
Day 5 (Thursday) - Spend a day at the villa painting and relaxing.
After breakfast, you’ll have some time to draw and work on your technique. Your tutor will also give a lesson focusing on drawing buildings with a guide to simplifying perspective. You will spend the rest of the day at the villa with time to continue your work, or relax by the pool and in the villa grounds. Lunch and dinner will be at the villa, prepared by your chef.
Day 6 (Friday) - A morning of painting followed by a visit to Modica.
After breakfast, enjoy another painting lesson. In the afternoon, you will head off to the impressive town of Modica to sketch its beautiful scenes. Dinner is at our favourite restaurant in this stunning town.
Day 7 (Saturday) - Enjoy a relaxed morning by the pool or paint at your leisure.
Following breakfast, you’ll have the chance to add the finishing touches to your artwork and discuss any questions or ask for any final words of advice. After lunch, we’ll mount up your favourite artwork and hang them in the studio ready for the evening’s exhibition. Afterwards, enjoy a special farewell dinner at the villa, prepared by your chef.
Day 8 (Sunday) - Our group transfer will take you back to Catania Airport.
After breakfast our transfer will take you back to Catania Airport for your onward journey. Arrivederci!

- On the first day of your holiday, your transfer driver will meet you in the arrivals hall of Catania Fontanarossa Airport at 1:30 pm or 4:30 pm (depending on your flight time)
- On the final day of your holiday, you will be collected and dropped off at Catania Fontanarossa Airport at 8:30 am or 12:30 pm (depending on your flight time)
